Hello fellow club members,     I have a ’72 Fulvia Coupe 1.3 S….VIN: 818630033206,    Gearbox No:  818630  031127.     I’d like to order a 2nd gear for my 5 speed transmission before I split the case.  I guess the Fulvia transmissions had two different 2nd gears, one had 35 teeth and the other had 32 teeth.  Does any one know which 2nd gear I would have in my transmission based on the VIN or the Gearbox number?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hard to say if you can get it from the VIN or gearbox number; that level of information resolution is rare for a 1970s series car’s records when it comes to two different gearing possibilities. Maybe there’s a notation in the Lancia parts books that state what range transmission numbers go with what specific second gear ratio…?

If you have the transmission out already but still together, you could calculate the 2nd gear number of teeth by counting rotations of the input shaft vs output shaft, knowing the difference between the ratios presented by that choice.
