Visitors From Australia . . . Perfect Reason For A Rally!
Paul and I eagerly looked forward to a fun, but all too brief, visit from our international friends, Paul and Jo Doumany, on March 22nd. They had just spent several weeks skiing in Colorado and scheduled an “add-on” trip to Chico before their return to their home in Brisbane, Australia. They had left their immaculate Lancia Integrali with us to store following the 2014 ALC Reunion in Graeagle. The Lancia and it’s owners, Paul and Jo, were eager to take their Lancia on a Spring drive where they could enjoy the automobile’s amazing performance in the mountain roads in Northern California. As expected, the Integrali performed beautifully as we made our way along Route 49 to our destination in Murphys, California.
Unfortunately, a tour through Yosemite was out of the question due to snow and poor road conditions so we spent a day in the historic ghost town/state park of Columbia on the 100th anniversary of the park. We were accompanied on the tour by the ALC president Steve Peterson and wife Lynn as well as automobile enthusiast friends from Chico, Francine and Gary Marquis driving their 2007 Morgan Arrow, Donnie and Jean Walker keeping up in their NSX, and Ian and Judy Hamer (owners of a Lotus Elite but testing Judy’s newly purchased 2018 Subaru).
It was a perfect 3-day rally exploring the gold country during the magnificent spring weather with lush green foliage and little traffic to impede our adventure through the Sierra Nevadas.
We look forward to the forthcoming visit from Shellagh and Alan Hornsby from Ballaret, Australia Beginning May-10th. They will be in the United States to participate in the ALC reunion and tour that follows in Southern California before their departure for the “Sliding Pilar event “ in Italy. We hope that those of you who will be at the reunion and/or on the tour, will extend a warm welcome to Shellagh and Alan during the events.
